Here are the findings of a national study released in July by the Pew Research Center.
“Americans who are highly engaged in public life are more likely than those who are less engaged to correctly answer several factual questions about politics,” the Pew Research Center said. “Highly educated adults – particularly those who have attended graduate school – are far more likely than those with less education to take predominantly liberal positions across a range of political values.”
Donald Trump knows this.

Millions of voters take the word of Trump, a lifetime con artist and a congenital liar, over fact-checkers, scientific researchers, and judges’ opinions.
Millions of Trump voters believe that Barack Obama was not born in this country, but that Trump — a pathological liar, congenital cheater, serial adulterer, psychopath, swindler, bully, misogynist, racist, and pussy-grabbing sexual abuser — was sent by God.
They believe that the climate crisis, the pandemic vaccine, and the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection are hoaxes, but professional wrestling is real and Fox News airs factual news.
They live in the worst-educated states, where white supremacists are revising history textbooks.
They support rights for the unborn, but those rights end when the baby is born. They say they’re pro-life, but they’re indifferent to the living. They support the Trump Administration’s slashing of programs for pregnant mothers, infant care, child care, and children’s health.
They say they’re pro life, but people living in Red states have shorter life spans than people in Blue states. They have higher rates of infant mortality, suicide, homicide, venereal disease, drug addiction, and overdose deaths.
They believe slavery was a jobs program and say racism no longer exists, and claim white males are being discriminated against.
They claim Trump is the best president in history, but historians and political scientists, who study presidencies, say Trump is the worst president in history.
They call themselves patriots, but support a president who inspired an insurrection to overthrow the government.
They assail the corruption of Democratic presidents like Barack Obama and Joe Biden without providing evidence, but praise Donald Trump whose administration political scientists call the most corrupt in modern U.S. politics.
They believe in the sanctity of marriage, but they divorce at a higher rate than Democratic voters.
They hate socialism, but Republican-led states receive considerably more funding for social programs than Democrat-led states. One study found that 7 of the 10 states most dependent on the federal government vote Republican.
Trump voters believe in The Bible, and cherry-pick passages that preach hatred and bigotry while ignoring thousands of passages that preach kindness, love, acceptance, goodness, and peace.
Trump voters say they believe in law and order – but only when white police kill unarmed Black and Mexican men.
They embrace criticism, but abhor critical thinking.
They voted for Trump because of his success as a businessman – and yet Trump inherited more than $400 million from his father and his businesses have gone bankrupt six times.
They say they believe in the Constitution, but put the con man before the Constitution.
They believe in limited government but, to them, this means that Donald Trump has complete authority over the government.
They don’t believe in science – and why should they? – because science doesn’t believe in them. Many Trump voters reject the theory of evolution, and the theory of evolution rejects them.
